The IPCC, the scientific body that advises the UN on rising temperatures, has just released a new report. It's an important summary of six key pieces of research completed over the past five years.

Limiting rising temperatures to 1.5C is still possible, but we need to act now. "There is a rapidly closing window of opportunity to secure a liveable and sustainable future for all," the report states.

"If we aim for 1.5C and achieve 1.6C, that is still much much better than saying, it's too late, and we are doomed and I'm not even trying," Dr Friederike Otto, from Imperial College, a member of the core writing team for this report, told BBC News.

"And I think what this report shows very, very clearly is there is so much to win by trying."

Find the report here.
